My Cameo Gals & a Guy... About Cameo Creations

Image
“A Cameo Creation” wall art were produced from the 1940's to the 1960's.The cameo images were of well-known portraits of late 18th century and 19th century nobility, and many of the frame backs have stickers stating who the portrait is of and the artist. Through the time span of production many different styles of frames were presented. I have found for my collection a vast variation, some of them are framed in gilded wood with a burgundy velvet and others are found in gold ornate plastic frames. It was a great inexpensive way to curate a miniature art collection. I just found at the back of my closet this box of vintage Cameo Creation wall art. I completly forgot about theme. Four years ago I began a collecting Cameo Creations. I just opened the box and shot some quick photos for me to share with you. Enjoy! Saint Cecila ... the patron saint of music

I love this antique print of Saint Cecila, the patron saint of music. When I acquired this I had no idea who it was. I was captivated by the colors. And I adore cherubs and pink roses. I recently did a little surfing on etsy to find a smaller version offered by the shop, beatinheart. It's framed in a lovely chippy ornate frame. Cynthia the owner, found her's in a tiny shop in Belgium many years ago and I found mine in a thrift shop in Fort Lauderdale, Florida only a few months ago. Isn't she lovely?                                                           SOURCE I must confess I am not Catholic but for years I have been drawn to Catholic art as well as religious art of all faiths. I have many Santos' and Madonna's and crosses from my years traveling. I have not yet to find a place for her in ...

My Art Inspiration

Image
I though I would share some of my acquired art that I have collected and received as gifts throughout the years. They inspire me throughout my days. Hope you enjoy looking at them. The above picture is of an original oil painting by William Kitchell, the grandson of  the American artist Hudson Mindell Kitchell. My maternal grandmother gave this to me one Christmas . William was her brother. This painting was the inspiration for my office. The above oil painting of an English cottage I acquired last year at a church bazaar. The above picture is an oil on canvas. The artist signature reads W. Hodges. Haven't found anything on the internet about the artist. The above photo is an oil painting by a lady that lived in South Florida. I acquired this at Goodwill. I googled the artists name and found she was deceased and lived in Fort Lauderdale. She had living children. I guess they didn't like the painting and donated it to charity. The above oil painting ...
